The Circulatory System: Students will use their study guide to complete activities, notes, and study for QUIZ on Tuesday.
The Respiratory System: Students will investigate and study the workings of the the Respiratory System on Wednesday.
Skeletal and Muscular Systems: Students will be given study guides listing the major bones and muscles. Study the highlighted parts for next week's QUIZ.
The 5th Grade class will be creating a Human Body Model once we complete our unit. Students are encouraged to collect recyclable items that could be used for our Human Body Model. Save these items at home until an announcement is given to bring them in for construction. Thank you!

New Reading Contract packet was given to students on Monday, Sept. 19th. They chose a biography to read. Start reading biography now. Vocabulary assignment due this week.

Digestive System TEST on Wed., Sept. 21
Monday and Tuesday, students will be reviewing the Digestive System and completing Science Journal work in preparation for the test. Students should know the names of the major organs of the Digestive System (worksheet).

Friday, the students will conduct a "Reaction Time" investigation. Worksheet packet must be completed and turned in on Monday, Sept. 26.

We begin our study of the 'systems' of the body. This week we begin with the Digestive System. Students will take notes and draw diagrams in their Science Journals. On Thursday, the students will have an "investigation" of the digestive system using pantyhose and balloons. (Be sure to ask them about this!) Science activities are completed in class and graded (information from pages 24-29 in the student textbook).

SCIENCE Sept. 6-9
We begin our Unit on the Human Body with a study of Cells.
Plant cells will be compared with Animal cells.
(pages 32-34 in the textbook)
Students will diagram both types of cells and create a Venn Diagram.
This is for preparation of the Cell Test on Tuesday, Sept. 13 (a presentation by TPD : anti-bullying message : has been scheduled for Monday.)
