SCIENCE March 26-30

We begin a new unit of study: "Earth, Moon, and Beyond".
This week the students will define vocabulary words in their Science Journals and take part in "Earth's Orbit" Investigations.

REMINDER: Students may still re-take the Chapter 4 TEST. See me during Study Skills time or after school.

LANGUAGE ARTS March 26-30

This week the students will practice writing letters and create a 'personal narrative'. Most of these assignments should be completed within the time allowed in class.

We continue reading the book Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. 
Students should study their vocabulary words.

SPELLING March 26-30

Lessons 106-109 will be completed in class. Students should take home their Spelling workbooks to study the word list in the back. TEST on Friday, March 30.

SCIENCE March 19-23

Look for the green permission slip in the Mar. 16 Friday Folder. Students will be watching Dolphin Tale rated PG. This is a story of how animals' lives can benefit from the use of a prosthetic and how humans benefit as well.

This week in Science students will learn about "Probability" and review graphing coordinates.

Last week, the students wrote a short story. They will create a comic illustrating their story. 


Students will read a 4th story from our Reading Anthology and act out a scene from a favorite story (1-4).


We begin reading the book Hatchet by Gary Paulsen.

SCIENCE March 12-16

Monday: Study Guide for Chapter 4 Test completed in class
Tuesday: Chapter 4 TEST (no notes/book)
Wednesday and Thursday: Scholastic Super Science magazine and worksheet packet. (Worksheets due end-of-class Thursday)
Friday: Math Enrichment "Euler Circuits" worksheet

LANGUAGE ARTS March 12-16

SCHOLASTIC BOOK ORDERS DUE WED. MARCH 14th.


Students will have a practice "AIMS" grammar test on Wednesday. They should use the study guide they created in class as a basis for study.

"Current Events" article - each student needs to bring in an article from the newspaper, magazine, or printed off the internet (see azstarnet.com ). They will read the article and complete the "Current Events" worksheet by Friday. This Current Event will be shared in class. Make certain that the article in no more than one month old.

SCIENCE March 5-9

This week the students will study Newton's 3 Laws of Motion.
They will have a QUIZ on Wednesday.
Students are required to demonstrate one of Newton's Laws using household objects. (see pages 154-160) DUE: Thursday, March 8
Math Enrichment on Friday.

LANGUAGE ARTS March 5-9

SCHOLASTIC BOOK ORDERS DUE MARCH 14.

In preparation for the AIMS Test to be taken in April, the students will have a grammar review this week.

READING March 5-9

The class completed reading the book Hoot by Carl Hiaasen. Students will watch the movie "Hoot" this week. They will create a COMPARISON and CONTRAST chart based on the book and movie. Using the chart, students will write a Comparison and Contrast paper DUE:Friday, March 9.
